aisy Creek Vineyard, named for the meandering stream which flows through the property from its source high in the mineral-rich Siskiyou Mountains to its end in the Rogue River, is located on the eastern boundary of the historic gold rush town of Jacksonville, Oregon. Suffused with history, the vineyard itself surrounds and spans the remnants of a slurry mine where turn of the century prospectors sifted the sands and gravels of Daisy Creek looking for gold. Today, these sands, rocks, gravels and rich amalgam of minerals swept down from the mountains over millenia with them comprise treasure of a different kind, the unique soil which nurtures our vines and makes instantly recognizable the wines produced from the Daisy Creek Vineyard – our terroir.
Comparable in latitude to the Rhone Valley of Southeastern France, Daisy Creek Vineyard sits at altitude 1350 asl and exhibits an average of 2918 degree days, a measure of time that temperatures in the vineyard fall within the optimal growing temperatures for grapes. These factors correlate with the Rhone Valley, in particular, the Northern Rhone and the famous Côte Rotie or "Roasted Slope" of that region which has for centuries cultivated Syrah and Viognier grapes and made from them some of the best red and white wines in the world.
Given these similarities, we have chosen these varieties as our focal plantings, as well.
Come and taste our wines. Enjoy a leisurely picnic in the vineyard. Wander the historic streets of Jacksonville. Even dip a pan in Daisy Creek and try your luck! Daisy Creek Vineyard welcomes you.
